I could hardly wait to sit down this morning and write this blog. It is one of the moments in your life when emotions of pride, happiness, and excitement melt together for an explosion of WOW! OMG... It was the weekend our 11 year old son got his first deer! Now, I could never ever shoot something so beautiful, but I understand all the reasons there is such a thing as deer hunting. John and the boys had come home empty handed on Saturday, but Sunday at 6:30 am was another try. As Jacob told me the story, his eyes and expressions did most of the talking. In his words, "I slowly lifted my gun, and I wasn't sure if it was a doe or a buck... and then I saw one antler, so I decided to shoot. BAM!" The best part of the story, is that the deer only had one antler, the other had been broken off - maybe in a fight or something. I told Jacob, "It's a good thing you didn't wait until you saw both antlers, or you wouldn't have gotten the deer!". So begins our journey of many years of hunting stories! In this weeks blog, I would also like to say 'thank you' to someone special! Nancie Waage was Jacob's 4th grade teacher last year. Little did we know, that Nancie would become a close family friend in the time that has followed. She was on staff during World Dairy Expo this past year, is helping out volunteering around our the shop and has become a part of our 'nuthouse'. Thank You Nancie! And last but not least, a pretty major announcement to the world... I played 'Guitar Hero' for the first time this weekend!! So, I learned, never say something is stupid until you've tried it. I'm pretty sure I could be a rock star if this 'painting thing' doesn't work out... ! Until next week.... I hope you enjoy some 'FIRSTS' in your life too - what fun! Thanks for reading....
