The Bread of Life
I began this painting early, one Mother's Day morning....it was a gift to myself. My mission was to paint a loaf of freshly baked bread. I believe someone else had a greater mission for myself and this painting. As it evolved, it took on a life of its own. The glowing light atop the bread became the presence of the Holy Spirit, as in our lives today. The crusted curves within the loaf; the journey of Jesus; leading to his crucifixtion, and the blood he shed to save us. The streams of light that flow from the bread, represents God's call for us, and in our midst (represented in the three darker rays) always, is God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Verse in card:
“I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.” John, Chapter 6, Vs. 51 We are saved because God so loved the world, he sent his only son. He died on the cross, for us, so that we might have eternal life and salvation with him. He is the Way. He is the Truth. He is the Life. Through the Holy Spirit, we are strengthened to journey through this life, until we arrive home safely with Jesus, our Savior.
Verse on Print:
“I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.” John 6:51
