The Home Place
The days are fleeting by all too quickly - two weeks from today is Christmas Eve Day! In 336 hours I will be standing in front of my stove making our family's traditional beer cheese and wild rice soup! Life at the Mohr house and Bonnie Mohr Studio as well, is engulfed in the holiday spirit and frenzy. The delivery trucks are picking up, dropping off, and racing up and down our country road daily. The local Coop has delivered our annual Christmas ham, there are a few presents now under the tree, the Open House and extra Holiday hours are happening, college kids are wrapping up with finals this week and next, and there are more sales going on than I can count! Amid all the excitement, we are embracing the local town parades, supporting the food shelf, and looking forward to Christmas day church and our family gathering! This is one time of the year, you need a little extra rest it seems, but don't oversleep or in a 'whoosh' it will all be over - seems it goes that fast each year!
The print featured in today's blog, THE HOME PLACE, is one of my favorites. It is reminiscent and a near model of the farm I grew up on as a child, and evokes fond memories of Christmas when I was young. Sitting around the table playing cards, fixing puzzles, and enjoying special goodies mom made just for the holidays! It was the time of year we would gather to watch TV, make snowmen, and go to the annual 4-H Christmas Potluck as a family. Wonderful times, wonderful memories!
