Spring's Arrival

Despite Covid19, Spring Arrived...

This year, more than ever, the bloom of spring and all that comes with it has meant the world to me, and I think most everyone! There really might be something to the cleaner air, cleaner water, and quieter noise level…….the birds have never been more active or chirpier, seriously, I could watch them and listen to them all day long! The spike in fishing licenses, garden seed sales, and home improvement supplies has never been bigger – it seems that we are all loving the modest and the grounding activities in life that we can enjoy and count on.

While I am missing parts of what used to be my more normal routine, I am loving the rediscovery of ‘living more simply’ and ‘living more calmly’ (except when I watch too much news…..). I am grounding myself with more daily prayer time, which pulls me back from trying to understand the background of what's all going on, how much we don't know about, and wondering when things will resume to "normal".

For the first time in a long time, I beckoned to John’s invitation to help pick rock. I asked how long or how much, and he coyly replied, "About an hour..."  As the sun was moving from overhead to the far west, I realized it was well past an hour, turns out it was a four hour affair! Great exercise, though, and some good bonding time – I think I am back in the game of rock pickin!

On a more colorful note…….it is finally time to plant flowers, yeah! I remain hopeful that we will still get to throw Zach, our youngest of five, a senior graduation party before the summer is over, and so I continue to work the yard!  Love these flowers….so does Remi!!!

And despite every effort to carry on with life as usual, what is up with the whole trend of eating and indulging more while sheltering in place???  Really!!! Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that just about every activity and event, which helps keep a person accountable, has been cancelled. Thankfully the spring has been gorgeous here in MN, and this mama likes to ride bike…..I have found it more important than ever to get in a daily dose of exercise.

Wishing you all peace and comfort during this ongoing pandemic. I will leave you with one of my favorite verses in the world, (also on my GIVE IT TO GOD print)....

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make straight your paths.”  Proverbs 3: 5-6

Blessings,
