Face to Face Autumn by Bonnie Mohr I don't ever remember mowing the lawn in November!! We have yet to have a killing frost in MN - what a beautiful autumn we have had and continue to enjoy ;) This means that yes...we are still mowing lawn, raking leaves, digging the carrots out of the garden, and putting up Christmas decorations all at the same time - no wonder I am confused! Throw into this mix that it is deer hunting season around... Read More

The country side and beauty of rural America hits a premium this time of year. I just couldn't resist sharing a snap of our girls out on pasture the other day.  Our cows enjoy 'pasture therapy' each day from around 11am - 3 pm, our version of stomp-drop-roll, run, play, bully and snort away, and release all the tension of their 2x a day milking job! We encourage our cows to work out their problems on pasture, enjoy the sunshine, and... Read More

My hand routinely hit the '6' key this morning to save this blog as a June entry - remembering it is July 1st today, my mind did that ol' 10 second panic "My gosh - where is the summer going.....help!" The list of things I need to get done this summer is at least 6 months long and I only have about 3 months left. 'Get busier girl'............I  imagine you are packing the camper and getting your 'TO DO' list in order for the big 4th of... Read More

Memorial Day weekend is upon us - the official kick-off "camping and grilling weekend" and start to summer! Growing up, camping was not a high priority or 'dreamed about' event for many farm families, including us. I guess that living in the great outdoors every day, living a more peaceful country lifestyle where fresh open air spaces are in high abundance (plus other various farm smells ;) and maybe having a campfire in our own back... Well, now that I'm grown up and married, there aren't many Valentine exchanges going on in my world, and I certainly don't need any more chocolate coming off the holidays...and so on Valentine's Day, my heart turns to someone I've always been infatuated with — CUPID! Imagine that, a little undressed angelic fairy, flying about, spreading the love connection! One of my all-time favorite artists remains to be William-Adolphe Bouguereau,... Read More

It is a snowy, sub-zero day here in Minnesota as I write my last blog for 2013! I am "near speechless" at the speed which this year has zoomed by. Although it seems traditional to reflect on all the year's accomplishments and happenings, my mind wants to fast forward and ponder all that is to come in the new year. The possibilities of 2014 are exciting and bring a smile to my face. With a new website and catalog in place, a great staff... Read More

If I were to begin to list all the things I am thankful for, surely I would miss someone or something, and the list would be long. So long in fact, I'd probably be sitting at this computer all day long. And so perhaps I will just summarize my thoughts into a couple of categories. I am thankful for good health, the wonderful people God has put into my life, and the gift of life itself. With these things, the sky is the limit, and there... What a successful weekend we had for our second open house of the year! The warm weather brought many customers out and about, and it was great to see so many cheery smiles and friendly faces fill up the studio — Christmas cheer is definitely here! Customers came from all over Minnesota (and even South Dakota!) to check out the Studio and to find those perfect Christmas gifts. Most even found art prints, vases, garland, and decorative... As the Christmas season begins and 2012 enters its final month of December, Bonnie Mohr Studio is preparing to start the new year with a fresh, updated look! I am currently in the process of a ‘website makeover’— the new version is set to be up and running sometime early 2013!! I can't wait to share it with all of you, and to kick off the "new look" of the Bonnie Mohr Studio website, I am sharing a sneak peek of my new logo!In the... Read More

With Christmas music starting to play on the radio stations and the stores preparing for their busy holiday shopping season, it can only mean that  Christmas is right around the corner. As we reflect on the people and things we are thankful for this holiday season, we at Bonnie Mohr Studio would like to express our sincere thanks for all of our customers — their loyalty to us and their great business. Ahh, how refreshing it is to hear the pitter-patter of the rain on the windows and the rolling thunder in the dark sky. And it is still morning! It is one of those rainy Spring days that has come to “renew” everything… After the weather passes, everything is brighter, more lush, and the fresh rain smell makes you want to close your eyes and take a big whiff.  It’s days like this that leave you feeling refreshed and renewed, and... Happy Mother's Day!  I realize it is still 6 days away, but there are reasons I write this today. Number one, it might give some kids out there a 'head's up' that it is almost here. Number two, in case your kids are lazy or don't see the point of gift buying, it potentially gives your husband an opportunity to pick up the ball and run. Number three, as big a job as mom's really have - this is a holiday that should be celebrated for a... Read More

What is it about holidays that brings back a rush of childhood memories? We were a normal farm family - we all wore hand-me-downs, we fought like all kids do, and we celebrated holidays in a traditional sense, like everyone else as far as I could tell.  Yet, it somehow - seemed very special.  Extra special, more special than at any one else's house, I was sure.  That's what our parents do, they make our lives feel special by the things... Halloween is upon us. This is the most bizarre  holiday of all.  I mean really, who has time to take a perfectly good productive evening to dress up looking ridiculous  and go out Trick-or-Treating...let alone the time it takes to put together a costume. To my delight however, once we hit the streets and join the rest of the other crazies in the commonplace world - it is really a good time.  My two youngest boys are still enchanted in... Read More

Happy Easter - Happy Spring! There is probably no other season of the year that is more exciting, or muddy, than spring on the farm!  We have already delivered dozens of newborn calves, two litters of kittens, the tulips are now a foot high, the grass is a promising green, and we have had more rainy days in the last month than I can count.  The arrival of this spring has been more anticipated than any I remember for some time because... Dear Friends - Merry Christmas!  We are so busy shoveling, moving and pushing snow here in MN, there is hardly time to write a blog!!  No kidding.  The banks are high, the drifts are deep.  We have already received as much snow to date, as we normally get in an entire winter.  So, enough bragging about all our snow…. Life around Bonnie Mohr Studio is starting to relax this week, with Christmas only a day away now.  I hope you are all... Read More

Winter Warriors would seem to be an appropriate title for those of us who work outdoors in Minnesota. We have had a ‘heap’ of snow this year. It’s piled high everywhere around the farmyard. Here is a glimpse of early this morning, when the milk truck was here to do daily pickup. The kids are loving it though, and lets face it, Minnesota just isn’t for sissies! We love it too (sometimes). Lets get on to business – with the onset of the... Read More
