Back to painting time for me ;) YEAH! After all the hoopla of a very exciting, event filled new year, I am finally settled back into my painting chair, where I feel  a great passion and love in my life. There is a 'wholeness' that resonates with my inner self that I can't explain - but it is that kind of feeling like when you are talking to someone on the phone, and even though you can't see them on the other end, you know they are... Buddies by Bonnie Mohr Things are warming up here in MN this week! We are in the 30's today and going to hit almost 50 by the weekend - this is big news for February in MN! We are loving it - it will be a mini taste of spring. Today is perfect snowman making weather - and so I share one of my all time favorite paintings "Buddies"! I created this painting about 10 years ago, on a day like today when Zach and I were out playing in the... Read More

January 30th, 2016 was the perfect day for a wedding! We celebrated a warm 40 degree winter day with the marriage of our daughter Kate and her new husband Jeff!  There really are no words to describe all the emotions that you experience on the wedding day of one of your children, but let me try. It was beautiful, happy, tear-filled, God Blessed, magical, breath taking, joyous, exciting, and very emotionally! IT WAS PERFECT!! I remember... Read More

CHECK, CHECK, CHECK.....IT'S WEDDING WEEK!   Wedding bliss is in the air at the Mohr household!! The wedding is just 3 days away now!! I'm not sure who is more excited....Kate or me!! I'm feeling so attached to all these wedding preparations I've almost started to think I am the one getting married - LOL! My eyeballs popped open at 4:30 AM this morning despite my yearning for just a little more sleep, my brain said GO! The checklist is... Read More

Featured Image: I Do by Bonnie Mohr Ten days from today - our family will gather at the church, in a circle of love, to witness and celebrate our first family wedding! Daughter Kate will be wed to Jeff, a wonderful young man (and beef farmer!) and they will begin their new life together ; )  It occurred to me this morning, how the children we have raised, continue to shape our lives.  The good times and the challenging ones, the... December 17!!  One week from today is Christmas Eve Day - "No Way" I keep telling myself -  "Way, way, wait a minute - yes it's true!"  It's that time of the year I lose my head from spinning in every which direction and my list is so long it is choking me as I spin - you know what I mean - you're in the same boat I am, aren't you?!  No matter what, it is still that magical time of the year, when final Christmas preparations are being... As I awoke this morning, my tired body and brain resisted the screaming alarm, but with a long list of things TO DO today dancing in my head, I threw back the covers and jumped out of bed like a fire drill! The beauty of adrenaline is that there is no turning back - I quickly dressed and b-lined into my new day.  The thing about December is, a person really could lose their mind! The list is long and the days are short.  Amidst the... Read More

My hand routinely hit the '6' key this morning to save this blog as a June entry - remembering it is July 1st today, my mind did that ol' 10 second panic "My gosh - where is the summer going.....help!" The list of things I need to get done this summer is at least 6 months long and I only have about 3 months left. 'Get busier girl'............I  imagine you are packing the camper and getting your 'TO DO' list in order for the big 4th of... Read More

Memorial Day weekend is upon us - the official kick-off "camping and grilling weekend" and start to summer! Growing up, camping was not a high priority or 'dreamed about' event for many farm families, including us. I guess that living in the great outdoors every day, living a more peaceful country lifestyle where fresh open air spaces are in high abundance (plus other various farm smells ;) and maybe having a campfire in our own back... If I were to begin to list all the things I am thankful for, surely I would miss someone or something, and the list would be long. So long in fact, I'd probably be sitting at this computer all day long. And so perhaps I will just summarize my thoughts into a couple of categories. I am thankful for good health, the wonderful people God has put into my life, and the gift of life itself. With these things, the sky is the limit, and there... Not only is it a stunning autumn day here in Minnesota, but as I write, I am also relishing in the feat of getting through my 28th year of World Dairy Expo (WDE) as a commercial exhibitor! I realize I am starting to date myself by mentioning this, but I can still rock n' roll with the best (and younger) of them .... and we did close down the Hoard's Dairyman Commercial Exhibitor Party Reception — AGAIN!! I dedicate this blog to my... Read More

The countdown has begun....World Dairy Expo, our biggest week of the year, is now less than two weeks away. YIKES! In an effort to be a better "crowd pleaser" this year, I am desperately trying to get some new paintings completed by then. I thought you might enjoy a peek at one of the paintings I’m working on....can you guess what I am painting?? I took this shot of it a couple of weeks ago, so it is actually now within days of being... Read More

This is my favorite month of the year! First of all – the cooler nights are such a joy. Sleeping with the windows open, digging out your favorite sweatshirt, and burning pumpkin scented candles in the house all add to the fullness of this season – AUTUMN. Oh, and let's not forget FOOTBALL! Everyone in MN is already fully engaged! And even though I am shy to promote my age, it is my birthday month and I have come to learn that the... Read More

Ting, TING, Bing, Ting, Pop, Ting, Tang, Bing. What in the world!! Sounds like a modern day rap of the old Rice Krispies commercial — you know the one, SNAP, CRACKLE, POP! Well, anyone who has ever canned pickles knows these "tings" and "bings" are music to your ears, as each jar takes its turn to be heard. One at a time, the jars start to seal. Some are so loud they almost give you a fright, and the next one is the shyest jar of... Read More

For some, the month of March means drinking green beer and frolicking about in shamrock wear (personally, I go for the Shamrock Shakes at McDonald's - love 'em!), but for many other moms, all across America, it is the month to "get in gear!!" There's a high school senior living in your house and a party to plan!! For those of you who have already traveled this path, you can empathize with the intensity of this occasion. For those of... Arnie This is just a great little story – has nothing to do with Bonnie Mohr Studio, but rather our dairy farm – Glenmark Genetics, Inc.  For those of you who know about life on a dairy farm, you understand the pains of dealing with the frigid outdoor temps in MN each winter, and getting the outside work done in this cold weather.  You also know that on a dairy farm, the manure has to be hauled or cleaned daily, and the problems that... Happy New Year – and Welcome to 2013!  At the beginning of January, every year - without fail, I feel astonished that it is a new year.  The fact that 365 days have fleeted away so quickly...and I find myself quietly reflecting on all the events that have come and gone during these past 12 months.  Feelings of both happiness and disappointment fill my mind as I recall some of the various events that have passed by and are now a memory... Winter has arrived, and with a capital "W." Twelve inches of snow fell this past weekend, and shut down a good share of southern MN for Sunday.  We made it to church, and were homebound for the rest of the day.  There is a strange calm that accompanies a snowstorm, especially if you are tucked indoors.  The world seems to slow down for the day, and the pace changes a bit.  I found myself getting back into my comfy checkered pajama... Hello Bonnie Mohr fans! Alyssa here again. For those of you who do not know me — I am the "social media gal" for Bonnie and her studio, so my job is to help Bonnie with her Facebook, Twitter, blog, etc. and this week, I'm taking over her blog ;) The following is a description of winter and all of its special moments and feelings. Enjoy! *** There's nothing quite like a winter evening in Minnesota — the stillness of the open fields at... Read More

What is a great day?  It can mean about as many things to as many people as there are shades of colors.  I had a "great day" today..... after being sick for 4 days - it was the comeback day!  What is it about being sick (when you are used to running at full throttle), that gives you the sensation that the world is coming to an end?  Geez – I make myself even sicker just because I am worried about not getting stuff done because I am...
